I felt crappy again today, but I still ran 4 on the TM while watching football. I was hoping I would feel better after running and I actually did.

I guess it is time to get some new goals now that it is 2011. The main goal for the year will be to complete a 100 mile distance and everything else I do will be gearing up for that. I have put in for the Wasatch 100 and if I don't get into that I'll sign up for another 100 mile race. Last year I did 3 ultra distances and I know I will have to ramp that up if I want to do a 100 miler this year, so I hope to do several adventures that will give me 30+ miles. Here are some of the adventures I am planning for 2011:

One day run/climb of Gannett Peak, Wyoming sometime in early August- This will be 44 tough miles that will require a 20 mile approach just to get to the serious climbing, with 6 hours of tough climbing to get the summit and back to that point with 20 more miles to get out. Other than the 100 this will be the most demanding day of the year.

Kings peak double (52 total miles)- I hope to do this with Jun sometime in July. As far as we can tell it has never been done before and will be really good prep for a 100.

Kings Peak winter ascent- Planning on doing it in March with a local group that does it every year.

Timp double- I wanted to do this last year, but didn't get it done. This year for sure.

Still plan on running/climbing at least 52 peaks in 2011.

I still haven't decided yet on all of the races I am doing, but I will probably do Logan Peak, the Timp marathon and Quest for Kings marathon.

Marathon in 3:30 and a half in 1:35.

EXCELLENT goals and I'm impressed with all of them! Someday when I get a life I'll join you on a few of those 52 peaks.

Wow... I'm going to rework my goals before I post them! Hopefully I see you out on the trails this year!

Oreo- You and Bryce should join us for Quest for Kings this year. I want to get up your way and bag some peaks, so I will let you know.

Amazing goals!!!

A 100 miler!!!

That makes a Marathon seem like - well what I ran today...a six miler.

I'll have to do a little research on a 100 miler and the kind of training that goes into that.

But I remember reading your blogs from last year...you do seem to do quite a bit in keeping fit. I thought I remember reading last year a goal being a peak every week. And it seemed like you were close to doing that or in fact did accomplish that feat.

Wishing you success with getting the 100 miler done.

I have toyed with the idea of doing an ultra...but I am not anywhere near ready for that yet. These marathons are still difficult...but you do inspire. And my mind is wandering as I type imagining what an Ultra would be like.

Whoooa Scotty Scott. Those goals sound super duper fun. May I join you on some?

Kings peak, I must do with you and Jun this year. I have to. Sounds so fun!

From Scott Wesemann on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 12:25:44 from 66.239.250.209

PRE- Yes, I had a goal to climb a peak a week for the year, so 52 total and I did 57. I find that doing these mountain runs really help keep me fit and help make my legs stronger.

You should definitely do an ultra if you have the desire you can do it. The first step is mentally believing that you can do it. If you can do a marathon than you can do an ultra. After 26.2 it is mostly mental.

Lily- You can join anytime. You better do Kings this year with us.
