View Benchmark Peak with Craig:

From Vintage View Dr. on Ann's trail. This was my first real run in 15 days. Wow. My calf/knee was still sore until just a few days ago, so I decided to take two full weeks off from running other than a light jog last week. I'm sure my legs needed the rest, but it was really hard to take the time off. I did get in some good cross training, but there is nothing like getting out on the trails, so today I tested everything out on a sweet morning run up to VB with Craig.

We had a blast. Great conversation all the way up and I ran about 99% of it. I just hiked a bit on the steepest section near the top. My calf/knee felt great the whole way and I actually felt good the entire run. I was a bit worried that I would bonk out there, but everything felt smooth and good. Life is good and finally back to normal.

Box Elder Peak with Craig and Je10:

Box Elder has been on my to-do list for about 15 years now. I can see the dang thing from my backyard and I can't believe it has taken me so long to get it done, but we did it this morning and I can finally check it off my list, but I will definitely go back again.

We met early this morning hoping to beat the storm and other than some really cold wind we did. The run up was really enjoyable. We did have a run in with some angry hunters with guns that were mad that we were talking in the mountains. Hmm. No need to argue with armed rednecks, so we smiled, apologized and kept moving up. A few minutes later we had the best sunrise of the year. Unreal! The summit ridge was very steep. We werent really on a trail and ended up going straight up the west face. Steep! It was really windy, so we didn't stay long, but the views from the top were some of the best I have seen in the Wasatch. It was a really sweet view of Timp to the south.

The run down was also a total blast. The fall colors are out in full force. I heard some elk bugle and really enjoyed the trail. There really isn't a better way to start the day. Great friends and a ton of fun.

Weights at the gym for an hour working my upper body/core. I also did 4 easy miles as my legs were sore from Box Elder.
