I took 2 days off in a row for the first time in a looong time to rest my legs and they felt great today. Ran the gully trail with Dorsimus, Jun and Steve. It was definitely hot and muggy out there, but I enjoyed it a lot. I didn't eat much breakfast today, so I took a gel at just over 2 miles and another one at the turnaround. I have not sweat this much on a run in a long time. I kept up with Jun most of the way, but the last 1.5 he dropped me. He looked incredible out there today, especially after running 50 tough miles yesterday.

I'll be doing a short run and lifting session later in the day. I have been taking it easy this week in order to rest my legs for a long run in the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming this Friday. MattVD and I are planning on running to the summit of Gannett Peak (highest peak in Wyoming). Gannett is usually a 4-5 day backpack covering about 45 miles with over 10K in elevation gain. The summit is guarded by 7 glaciers and the scenery is unmatched in the lower 48 IMO. Matt has been dealing with some foot issues, so hopefully that won't be a problem. The challenge for this peak will be running with climbing gear. We will have to carry backpacks, so that will be a slight pain, but we are going as light as possible.

I should be sleeping in the back of my car right now about to run/climb Gannett Peak, but that isn't going to happen. MattVH hurt his foot last week on our W100 course run and he is out. There is no way I am doing it solo, so no Gannett for me. This just hasn't been my year for mountaineering adventures.

I ran 6 miles AP 8:31. My legs felt really solid.

Wasatch 100 course from Big Mountain to Lambs with Jun and jsh. BUSHWHACK!

I wanted to do this section of the course during the heat of the day because most people that have run Wasatch say it is the hottest section and many runners DNF after doing it. It was definitely hot out there.

The trail was very overgrown in several places which slowed us down some. Jun and jsh were strong all day and I spent most of the run trying to catch them. I really enjoyed the run until we hit the Alexander flat aid station area. From there it was brutally hot and the last half mile we got into one of the most heinous bushwhacks I have ever done.

This section is pretty tough, but I really enjoyed everything but the overgrowth. My legs are scratched and raw.

My legs were a touch sore from the run yesterday, so I went out for an easy cruise to stretch them out. I also wanted to do some more heat training, so I went out around noon. It was hot, bit it didn't bother me at all. My legs were stiff and it took about two miles before I started feeling good. Alpine hwy 2.5 and back.
