Today I did my trail work for the Wasatch 100. We did maintenance on the Lake Mary trail above Brighton. It was tough work, but I had a great time on a beautiful day with some really cool people. About 10 other runners were also there and we got a lot of work done. After we finished I was pretty beat, but I still wanted to get in a run, so when I got home I ran on the Alpine Hwy in the heat. The first few miles were tough because I was tired, but the last two I was cruising and feeling great.

Those trail work days are tough. How's the snow looking up there these days?

The Alpine Highway in the heat sounds miserable. I used to run on the road just west of Fox Hollow and find at least one golf ball every time I went.

How does that work? Does everyone have to work on the trails even if they do not live here???

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Jul 22, 2011 at 19:21:18 from 66.239.250.209

Oreo- My comments are not blog appropriate.

jsh- It is melting out fast. Still some on the north facing slopes and in the upper basins, but the lower trails are good.

Chad- That road can be miserable. Yesterday it wasn't too bad.

Kelli- Everyone has to work on the trails for at least 8 hours. If you don't live in Utah you can do it with your local Forest Service.

that's really cool. i didn't know the race required you to do that -- neat idea.

nice job getting some miles in afterwards.
