I was supposed to do this run yesterday, but it just didn't workout. I found out that my first best friend passed away yesterday. It was a shock. I spent as much time at his home from age 3-15 as my own. We had many fun adventures together and my thoughts were of him most of the run. I ran from my house up AF canyon to the Timp cave parking lot and back. I stopped at the cave parking area to use the bathroom and take a gel and some salt. The best part of the run was running down the canyon at about a 7:00 pace. The last 5 were hell. I'm not sure if it was the heat or what but I bonked and it was tough. Some of the memories of Ryan that I thought about: Designing and building a massive half pipe skate ramp in his backyard. Spending summers swimming and playing tennis at the Sports Mall. BB gun wars in his backyard and the BB I still have lodged in my jaw. Taking his moms car for joy rides before we had our licenses :) staying up all night playing night games in the neighborhood. Making our first movie together using a Super 8 video camera. Playing Masters of the Universe (He-Man!) Watching movies on HBO all night on sleepovers. Sprinkler under the tramp. Spending a week skating in Cali when we were 15. Skating down Capitol hill together (might be the craziest thing I ever did). All night football games at the church. The games in the snow were the best. Learning how to ski at Alta together. Playing Stompers in the dirt. Catching snakes at the canal behind our elementary school then freaking out our moms. RIP Ryan. I'll miss you bud!

Sorry to hear about that. Sounds like you had some time to reflect on your run. Running is great for that kinda stuff.

What a wonderful run dedicated to an amazing friend! I had to laugh at some of the memories...sounds like we had very similar childhoods, except some things were the older brothers in the hood and us girls would just watch :)

Always hard to lose someone that means so much to us and who carries many memories of us as well. My sympathy is with you!

Thanks Rad.

Sorry about your friend. I guess that's a good excuse for some SSing.

RAD - don't forget about the WWE/WWF.

I don't need an excuse for the SS. I love it.

Haha! If St. Peter doesn't let you pass through the pearly gates, (or gaits as Lily would say), I'll tell him that I ain't going in unless Scott gets to go in.
