Antelope Island run this morning with Jun, Dorsimus and Adam (Julie's hub). We met Dorsimus in Kaysville, and I dropped my car at the 7-11, where I forgot to lock it. I have a lot of gear in the back, so I was worried about it the rest of the morning. Luckily it was ok when we returned.

Then we went and picked up Adam on our way to the island and he and I got to cuddle in the back, and we barely met. It wasn't by choice, but I enjoyed it none-the-less (ok kidding). There wasn't much room back there.

We did an out and back that is part of the 50 mile race. The weather was cold, but great for running. For the first 4 miles we all hung together chatting, and then Jun and Dorsimus put a bit of distance between us. Adam and I talked the rest of the way to the turnaround and the time flew by. Jun and Dorsimus were not too far ahead until we stopped to take a gel at mile 8.4. We got to the turnaround a few minutes after the other guys and after another gel and a bathroom break we headed back to the start.

I got a little stiff after our break and it took me a few miles to shake off the rust. By then the other guys had left me behind. At about 16-17 my legs did get sore and I wasn't able to push as fast as I wanted, but I did run every step of the trail except when I stopped to take a gel, which I did again at mile 18. The last 3.5 were hard. My legs were tired, but cardio wise I still felt really good. It was really fun listening to my music and checking out the incredible scenery, which included buffalo, antelope, a few coyotes and a falcon.

The last hill was a killer and it didn't help that it had now become muddy. I did hike a bit here, but only for a few yards. What a fun run. I can't wait to do the 50K next month.

Nice to finally see that you posted ;) Great job, that was a fun run for sure. Next time maybe I'll pull the car seat out if 4 of us are going. :)

Nice run! Are you guys planning anymore runs on Antelope Island before the race?

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Feb 18, 2011 at 19:30:55 from 66.239.250.209

JD- I think we might go out one more time, but nothing set yet. If you want to meet us out there if we do I'll let you know.

Dorsimus- Sory about all of the mud in your back seat. Thanks for driving out there.

I hope you ate a dunford after all this running yesterday :) I would....

Can't wait to see how you do next. Exciting.

From Scott Wesemann on Sun, Feb 20, 2011 at 14:58:56 from 75.162.75.27

Thanks guys. I have a long way to go to get where I want to be, but one thing that makes me optimistic is that I am not really sore at all.

Oh Lily, no Dunford. Maybe today :) I did however eat a ton of chocolate.
